Chetan Advaith, a 10th standard student of The Amaatra Academy on Sarjapur Road, went missing after school this afternoon. Thankfully, he came back home after allegedly being dumped in an unknown spot by a stranger. When questioned, the boy said that the stranger forcibly took him to a remote location and dropped him. After running around the area, the boy came across Agara Lake and was finally able to return home.

The kidnap story went viral in neighbourhood groups, but when the boy returned within hours, the truth was that he wasn't kidnapped. No less than Abdul Ahad, the Deputy Commissioner of Police had to intervene and tell the residents not to spread false news as that is an offence too.

WHAT REALLY HAPPENED?
As usual, Chetan left home for school at 7.30am. However, he never returned home after school, causing much worry to his parents. Staying at Bhuvana Greens apartment on Kasavanahalli Main Road, the school was just a kilometre away.

Speaking to Residents Watch, his mother Bhavani JK said, "After school, some stranger took him to an unknown location and left him there. It took him a while to figure out his way back. Thankfully, he came upon Agara Lake Road. When we asked him, he is not able to say anything. All he said was that nothing happened to him. He's feeling scared. He doesn't go anywhere without telling us. So after relaxing here for a while, the cops just took him at 4pm for questioning."

When we called his father, he said he would call back as he was at the Bellandur police station with his son. We will update this story if we hear anything new from him later.

In the meanwhile, the Kasavanahalli Development Forum (KDF) has requested the police to install CCTVs and check posts in light of this incident and three other cases in the recent past. "I have pinged DCP Whitefield to follow-up on our request of check post and CCTV. We have requested for some beat police. Suggest we all beef up our internal security camera and have our apartment security be vigilant," says Vishnu Prasad of KDF.

In his tweet to the residents just a few minutes ago, Abdul Ahad, DCP Whitefield has confirmed that it was no kidnap incident: "No kidnap incident today, boy is back home on his own, he claims there was a road rage, we will verify, pls don't spread panic amongst residents, it's an offence."

However, the Bellandur residents still want the cops to take preventive measures. With the Twitter handle of @SaveBellandur, the residents want the cops, MLA Arvind Limbavali and Deputy Chief Minister G Parameshwar to take the following steps: 1) Removal of Temporary tent/huts and unverified floating population. 2) CCTV monitoring. 3) Erect checkposts.
