Earlier, we reported that 75-year-old Gangadhar N Nayar was hit by a BMTC bus on December 10 at around 5pm. Now it is learnt that he died after fighting a hopeless battle for two days at Columbia Asia Hospital on Sarjapur Road.
He was trying to cross the busy Iblur junction when he was hit by the bus that was allegedly being driven rashly. After the incident, the bus driver had left the bus and escaped. Gangadhar has incurred severe head injuries.
According to the cops, he was treated for his head and ear injuries, but breathed his last two days later. This has strengthened the residents's long-pending demand for an elevated pedestrian walkway at this junction. The traffic police have promised to look into it. However, with the bureaucratic delays, it might take some time for the residents' demands to be met.
