US closes lower with tech stocks leading losses
Major stock indexes in the United States finished the trading session in the red on Monday, with the technology sector indexes leading the losses, while the S&P 500 hit its lowest level since April 2021. The concerns related to interest rates are seemingly on the rise, as investors show potential worries over Fed's ability to curb inflation.
The Dow Jones plunged 1.99% or 653 points at the closing bell as Boeing fell 10.48%. At the same time, the S&P 500 declined 3.20%, with APA down 14.92%. The Nasdaq 100 nosedived 3.98% or 505 points at the close as MercadoLibre tumbled 16.88%.
The euro added 0.11% against the dollar at 3:59 pm ET, selling for 1.05623.
