Invest this amount in an index fund for now. Once you have more amount to invest then explore small cap, mid cap and stock options.

You can invest in index fund. But index fund will give you a return of 10-12% or maybe 15% in the long run.
Small cap and mid cap will give more returns but at much higher risk.
Flexi cap fund will give more returns than index fund with little more risk than index funds.

You can invest in an index fund for long term.
If you want to take more risk then you can also invest in a small cap or mid cap fund.
