Stock market update: Nifty Auto index advances 0.74%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto index closed on a positive note on Thursday.

Shares of Escorts Kubota(up 2.07 per cent), Bharat Forge(up 1.91 per cent), Eicher Motors(up 1.81 per cent), Maruti Suzuki(up 1.66 per cent) and Ashok Leyland(up 1.42 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Sona BLW Precision Forgings(down 3.77 per cent), Bosch(down 0.47 per cent), Balkrishna Industries(down 0.29 per cent), TVS Motor Company(down 0.19 per cent) and TIINDIA(down 0.16 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty Auto index closed 0.74 per cent up at 13320.75.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 88.55 points at 17629.8, while the BSE Sensex stood down 337.06 points at 59119.72.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 22 ended in the green, while 28 closed in the red.

Shares of Suzlon Energy, Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, JP Power and Shree Ren Sug were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Brand Concepts L, Servotech Power Syst, Saksoft Ltd, Sonu Infratech Ltd. and HSIL hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Jakharia Fabric, Hind Oil Expl, KCK Industries Ltd., FutureLifestyleFash and Kopran Ltd hit their fresh 52-week lows.
