Stock market update: Nifty IT index advances 0.48% in a weak market

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index traded positive around 11:00AM(IST)on Wednesday in a weak market.

MPhasis(up 1.73 per cent), L&T Technology(up 0.96 per cent), Tata Consultancy(up 0.55 per cent), Tech Mahindra(up 0.53 per cent) and Infosys(up 0.47 per cent) were among the top gainers.

Mindtree(down 0.18 per cent) were the top losers on the index.

The Nifty IT index was up 0.48 per cent at 27135.1 at the time of writing this report.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 72.05 points at 16935.35, while the BSE Sensex was down 232.33 points at 56875.19.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 23 were trading in the green, while 27 were in the red.

Shares of Suzlon Energy, Shree Ren Sug, PNB, Zomato Ltd. and Vodafone Idea were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Liberty Shoes, Airo Lam, Prudent Corporate Advisory Services Ltd., Ameya Precision Engineers Ltd. and ICE Make Refr hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Varanium Cloud Ltd., FutureLifestyleFash, Mercator, Sportking India and Dhanvarsha Finvest hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
