Stock market update: BSE Telecom index rises 1%; Vodafone Idea climbs 3%

NEW DELHI: S&P BSE Telecom index was trading with gains at 01:38PM (IST) on Tuesday.

Shares of Tejas Network (up 4.99 per cent), Optiemus Infracom (up 4.93 per cent), Reliance Communications (up 4.39 per cent), Vodafone Idea (up 3.11 per cent) and Tata Communications (up 1.83 per cent) were among the top gainers.

While OnMobile Global (down 4.9 per cent), HFCL Ltd (down 2.77 per cent), ITI (down 2.76 per cent), GTL Infrastructure (down 2.63 per cent) and Bharti Infratel Ltd (down 0.49 per cent) were the top losers in the index.

The S&P BSE Telecom index was trading 1.22 per cent up at 1183.53 around 01:38PM.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 61.20 points at 11501.25, while the BSE Sensex was up 198.72 points at 38955.35.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 32 were trading in the green, while 16 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, Alok Industries, YES Bank, Ashok Leyland and SAIL were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of J B Chem, Amber Enterprises India Ltd., Century Plyboards , APL Apollo Tube and Adani Green Energy Ltd. hit their fresh 52 week high in today's trade, while 7NR Retail Ltd., Darjeeling Ropeway Company Ltd., Panth Infinity Ltd., Innovative Ideals and Services (India) Ltd., Saffron Industries Ltd., Mukat Pipes Ltd., Leading Leasing Finance and Investment Company Ltd., Vas Infrastructure Ltd., Shivansh Finserve Ltd. and Libord Finance Ltd. hit fresh 52 week low in trade.
