Stock market update: Mining stocks up as market rises

NEW DELHI: Mining shares closed higher in the Monday's session.

20 Microns(up 15.09%), Oriental Trimex(up 11.03%), Gujarat Mineral Dvpt Corporation(up 5.94%), Lexus Granito(up 5.00%), Ashapura Minechem(up 3.18%), Pokarna(up 2.45%), MOIL(up 0.96%), Coal India(up 0.71%), Orissa Minerals Development Company(up 0.25%) and KIOCL(up 0.22%) stood among the top gainers.

Aro Granite Industries(down 2.16%), Madhav Marbles and Granites(down 0.11%) and NMDC Ltd(down 0.09%) were among the top losers of the day.

The NSE Nifty50 index ended 181.8 points up at 17340.05, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed up 545.25 points at 58115.5.

Tata Motors(up 6.58%), Mahindra & Mahindra(up 6.29%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone(up 4.92%), UPL Ltd(up 3.54%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation(up 3.17%), Cipla(up 2.78%), Maruti Suzuki(up 2.62%), Reliance Industries(up 2.61%), Kotak Mahindra Bank(up 2.51%) and Bharti Airtel(up 2.43%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries(down 2.6%), HDFC LIFE INSURANCE(down 1.7%), Hindustan Unilever(down 1.68%), Britannia Industries(down 1.15%), Divis Laboratories(down 0.95%), Nestle India(down 0.54%), IndusInd Bank(down 0.32%), Grasim Industries(down 0.29%), Asian Paints(down 0.28%) and Eicher Motors(down 0.16%) closed in the red.
