Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index advances 0.37%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index closed on a positive note on Monday.

Shares of Lupin(up 1.54 per cent), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries(up 1.5 per cent), Divis Laboratories(up 1.48 per cent), Cipla(up 1.21 per cent) and Ipca Laboratories(up 1.17 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Laurus(down 5.38 per cent), Granules India(down 3.67 per cent), Strides Pharma Science(down 3.2 per cent), Glenmark Pharmaceuticals(down 2.8 per cent) and Natco Pharma(down 1.97 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty Pharma index closed 0.37 per cent up at 11847.9.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 56.65 points at 15350.15, while the BSE Sensex stood up 237.42 points at 51597.84.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 26 ended in the green, while 24 closed in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, Suzlon Energy, Vedanta and Tata Power were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Cheviot Company, Globesecure Technologies Ltd., Priti International, Apar Industries and Dangee Dums hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Vivimed Labs, Umang Dairies, FACT, Aban Offshore and Mahamaya Steel hit their fresh 52-week lows.
