Stock market update: Nifty IT index falls 0.2% in an upbeat market

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index traded negative around 10:50AM(IST)on Friday in an upbeat market.

Larsen & Toubro Infotech(up 2.94 per cent), Mindtree(up 1.52 per cent), L&T Technology(up 1.25 per cent) and Tata Consultancy(up 0.04 per cent) were among the top gainers.

Wipro(down 1.77 per cent), Coforge(down 1.38 per cent), HCL Technologies(down 1.35 per cent), Tech Mahindra(down 0.46 per cent) and MPhasis(down 0.38 per cent) were the top losers on the index.

The Nifty IT index was down 0.2 per cent at 26470.35 at the time of writing this report.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 30.05 points at 15968.7, while the BSE Sensex was up 74.86 points at 53491.01.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 34 were trading in the green, while 16 were in the red.

Shares of SAIL, YES Bank, Suzlon Energy, Zomato Ltd. and Vodafone Idea were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of PC Jeweller, Lumax Auto Tech, GRP Ltd, Sonam Clock and International Constructions Ltd. hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Suumaya Lifestyle, Uttam Galva Stl, Karda Const, Policy Bazaar and Electrotherm hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
