    Infosys launches initiative aimed at curbing spread of diseases in rural Karnataka

    Infosys has joined hands with Rotary Bangalore Southwest Charitable Trust (Rotary Trust) to build mobile labs in Karnataka.
    The CSR arm of tech major Infosys on Monday announced the launch of its cost-effective diagnostic laboratories, named ‘Lab Built on Wheels’, with an objective to curtail spread of communicable diseases in the rural parts of Karnataka.

    The four mobile labs have been equipped with a medical unit, pharmacy, and a minimal invasive emergency care unit, stated the press release.

    The company has joined hands with Rotary Bangalore Southwest Charitable Trust (Rotary Trust) and passed a grant of Rs 4 crore to build these labs.

    According to the press release, the labs have been designed by Rotary Trust in collaboration with Saicorp Health Technologies (SHTPL) while maintaining BSL level 2 safety standards inside the mobile laboratories.

    The mobile labs were launched in presence of Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai and health minister of Karnataka, Dr. K Sudhakar, along with some other government officials and members of Rotary Trust.

    “We have always embraced our responsibility to create a positive impact on the environment and the communities we work in. This is part of a continuous effort by Infosys Foundation to ensure that the underprivileged people in India have affordable, on-time access to clean, hygienic, and appropriate medical treatment and healthcare. We are grateful to the state government for their support and appreciation,” said Krish Shankar, executive vice-president and the group head of HR development, Infosys.
