Stock market update: Mining stocks up as market rises

NEW DELHI: Mining shares closed higher in the Friday's session.

Coal India(up 4.14%), Lexus Granito(up 3.19%), Orissa Minerals Development Company(up 2.42%), NMDC Ltd(up 2.08%), Oriental Trimex(up 1.94%), 20 Microns(up 1.81%), Gujarat Mineral Dvpt Corporation(up 1.29%), Madhav Marbles and Granites(up 0.87%), MOIL(up 0.71%) and KIOCL(up 0.43%) stood among the top gainers.

Ashapura Minechem(down 0.58%) and Pokarna(down 0.02%) were among the top losers of the day.

The NSE Nifty50 index ended 228.65 points up at 17158.25, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed up 712.46 points at 57570.25.

SBI Life(up 8.64%), Tata Steel(up 7.22%), Hindalco Industries(up 5.77%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries(up 5.4%), HDFC LIFE INSURANCE(up 4.5%), Coal India(up 4.14%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation(up 2.99%), Bajaj Finserv(up 2.77%), IndusInd Bank(up 2.54%) and Infosys(up 2.13%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Dr Reddys Laboratories(down 3.98%), Kotak Mahindra Bank(down 0.99%), State Bank of India(down 0.77%), Divis Laboratories(down 0.47%), Axis Bank(down 0.16%), ITC(down 0.13%), Power Grid Corporation of India(down 0.12%) and Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone(down 0.1%) closed in the red.
