Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index falls 0.28%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index closed on a negative note on Monday.

Shares of Divis Laboratories(up 1.57 per cent), Lupin(up 1.27 per cent), Glenmark Pharmaceuticals(up 1.21 per cent), Cipla(up 0.38 per cent) and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries(up 0.24 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Laurus(down 3.89 per cent), Natco Pharma(down 3.84 per cent), Biocon(down 2.72 per cent), Torrent Pharmaceuticals(down 2.02 per cent) and Granules India(down 1.66 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty Pharma index closed 0.28 per cent down at 12785.0.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 109.4 points at 16301.85, while the BSE Sensex stood down 364.91 points at 54470.67.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 19 ended in the green, while 30 closed in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, Tata Power, Campus Activewear Ltd. and Power Grid were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Campus Activewear Ltd., Kritika Wires, Gallantt Ispat, Vadilal Ind and Shanthi Gears hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Indostar Cap. Fin., Hind Copper, IRIS Business Servic, KN Agri Resources Ltd. and Mallcom(India)hit their fresh 52-week lows.
