Stock market update: FMCG stocks up as market rises

NEW DELHI: FMCG shares closed higher in the Monday's session.

JHS Svendgaard Laboratories(up 6.69%), Vadilal Industries(up 5.04%), Future Consumer(up 4.55%), Hatsun Agro Product Ltd(up 4.27%), Emami(up 3.09%), Parag Milk(up 3.00%), Dangee Dums(up 2.74%), Prataap Snacks(up 1.68%), Zydus Wellness(up 1.47%) and Umang Dairies(up 1.37%) stood among the top gainers.

Euro India Fresh Foods(down 5.25%), Nakoda Group(down 4.99%), DFM Foods(down 2.42%), ADF Foods(down 1.58%), Colgate Palmolive(India)(down 1.33%), Jyothy Labs(down 1.26%), Nestle India(down 1.12%), Bajaj Consumer(down 0.98%), Marico(down 0.89%) and Dabur India(down 0.80%) were among the top losers of the day.

The NSE Nifty50 index ended 60.15 points up at 15842.3, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed up 180.22 points at 52973.84.

Eicher Motors(up 7.62%), Apollo Hospitals Enterprises(up 3.92%), NTPC(up 2.84%), UPL Ltd(up 2.65%), Bajaj Finance(up 2.35%), State Bank of India(up 2.33%), Maruti Suzuki(up 2.05%), Bajaj Auto(up 2.02%), Hero MotoCorp(up 1.91%) and Kotak Mahindra Bank(up 1.87%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, UltraTech Cement(down 2.97%), Shree Cement(down 2.59%), Asian Paints(down 2.09%), ITC(down 1.74%), Grasim Industries(down 1.55%), Divis Laboratories(down 1.47%), Tech Mahindra(down 1.15%), Nestle India(down 1.12%), Tata Consultancy(down 1.12%) and Infosys(down 1.02%) closed in the red.
