The NSE Nifty index closed 25.85 points down at 15782.15, while BSE Sensex ended down 136.69 points at 52793.62.
On the other hand, Hindalco Industries Ltd.(down 4.40 per cent), JSW Steel Ltd.(down 3.90 per cent), State Bank of India(down 3.89 per cent), NTPC Ltd.(down 2.96 per cent) and ICICI Bank Ltd.(down 2.65 per cent) were among the top losers of the day.
