Stock market update: Power stocks up as market rises

NEW DELHI: Power stocks were trading higher on Wednesday at 10:45AM

CESC(up 1.78%), NTPC(up 1.74%), Power Grid Corporation of India(up 1.48%), Tata Power Company(up 1.26%), Transformers and Rectifiers(India)(up 1.25%), Inox Wind Energy(up 1.17%), Jyoti Structures(up 0.93%), Adani Transmissions(up 0.83%), Voltamp Transformers(up 0.76%) and GE Power India Limited(up 0.71%) were among the top gainers.

Energy Development Company(down 4.35%), Kalpataru Power Transmission(down 1.76%), Inox wind(down 0.82%), KEC International(down 0.75%), Adani Power(down 0.68%), NLC India(down 0.60%), NHPC(down 0.59%), Karma Energy(down 0.52%), PTC India(down 0.44%) and Torrent Power(down 0.20%) were among the top losers.

The NSE Nifty50 index was trading 58.5 points up at 18666.5, while the 30-share BSE Sensex was up 190.96 points at 62724.26 at around 10:45AM.

Oil & Natural Gas Corporation(up 1.91%), NTPC(up 1.74%), Hindalco Industries(up 1.72%), Eicher Motors(up 1.63%), Power Grid Corporation of India(up 1.48%), Tech Mahindra(up 1.38%), State Bank of India(up 1.05%), Wipro(up 0.91%), Dr Reddys Laboratories(up 0.88%) and Larsen & Toubro(up 0.79%) were among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Nestle India(down 1.32%), Bharti Airtel(down 0.89%), Asian Paints(down 0.44%), Hindustan Unilever(down 0.37%), ICICI Bank(down 0.24%), Apollo Hospitals Enterprises(down 0.22%), Mahindra & Mahindra(down 0.2%), Reliance Industries(down 0.11%), HDFC LIFE INSURANCE(down 0.07%) and Britannia Industries(down 0.06%) were trading in the red.
