Share market update: FMCG shares mixed; Britannia dips 2%

NEW DELHI: FMCG shares were trading on a mixed note in Thursday's session.

Shares of TATA CONSUMER PRODUCTS (up 2.63 per cent) , P & G Hygiene (up 0.88 per cent) , United Breweries (up 0.81 per cent) , United Spirits (up 0.79 per cent) and VBL (up 0.62 per cent) were among the top gainers.

While Godrej Consumer Products (down 2.03 per cent) , Britannia Industries (down 1.86 per cent) , Nestle India (down 1.28 per cent) , Marico (down 1.15 per cent) , Emami (down 0.97 per cent) , Dabur India (down 0.95 per cent) , Colgate Palmolive (India) (down 0.92 per cent) , Jubilant Foodworks (down 0.91 per cent) and Hindustan Unilever (down 0.03 per cent) were the top losers in the index.

The Nifty FMCG index was trading 0.37 per cent down at 29418.95 around 02:07PM.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 48.35 points at 10013.2, while the BSE Sensex was down 170.67 points at 33938.87.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 23 were trading in the green, while 27 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, PNB, Trident Ltd, SBI, Tata Power, Tata Motors, Bank of Baroda, ICICI Bank, BHEL and Vedanta were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
