Stock market update: Nifty Auto index advances 0.02% in a weak market

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto index traded positive around 11:01AM(IST)on Friday in a weak market.

Mahindra & Mahindra(up 0.98 per cent), Hero MotoCorp(up 0.4 per cent), Balkrishna Industries(up 0.35 per cent), Maruti Suzuki(up 0.33 per cent) and Bajaj Auto(up 0.31 per cent) were among the top gainers.

Samvardhana Motherson International(down 4.09 per cent), Sona BLW Precision Forgings(down 2.01 per cent), Bosch(down 0.73 per cent), TVS Motor Company(down 0.52 per cent) and Tata Motors(down 0.46 per cent) were the top losers on the index.

The Nifty Auto index was up 0.02 per cent at 12772.55 at the time of writing this report.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 40.85 points at 17817.35, while the BSE Sensex was down 179.68 points at 59778.35.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 25 were trading in the green, while 24 were in the red.

Shares of YES Bank, PNB, Tata Steel, Suzlon Energy and IOB were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Uma Converter Ltd., Radhika Jeweltech, Kandarp Digi Smart BPO Ltd., Roto Pumps and Varanium Cloud Ltd. hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Anlon Technology Solutions Ltd., Bata India, Consol Const., Dollex Agrotech Ltd. and Nureca Ltd. hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
