Getty ImagesNEW DELHI: Several stocks rallied as much as 15% in Mumbai trading on Wednesday even as equity benchmarks, BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty, traded in the green amid brisk buying in frontline bluechip counters.
Stocks that surged in excess of 15% included, MFL India(20.0%), Subex(20.0%), Zodiac JRD MKJ(19.94%), Burnpur Cement(19.85%) and AMD Industries(19.26%).
The 30-share BSE Sensex ended 214.17 points up at 58350.53, while the 50-share index, NSE closed 42.7 points up at 17388.15.
In the Nifty50 index, 25 stocks closed in the green, while 25 stocks ended in the red.
Meanwhile, stocks such as Navneet Education, Tamboli Capital, Veerkrupa Jewellers Ltd., Vadilal Ind and Elgi Equipments hit their fresh 52-week high, while B-Right Realestate Ltd., Superior Finlease, Oceanic Foods, Birla Tyres and ISF Ltd touched their new 52-week low in today's trade.
