Stock market update: Nifty Auto index advances 0.4%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto index closed on a positive note on Friday.

Shares of Escorts Kubota(up 4.69 per cent), TIINDIA(up 2.7 per cent), Ashok Leyland(up 1.32 per cent), Sona BLW Precision Forgings(up 1.32 per cent) and Tata Motors(up 1.27 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Eicher Motors(down 3.63 per cent), Balkrishna Industries(down 1.2 per cent), Bajaj Auto(down 0.21 per cent), MRF(down 0.2 per cent) and Maruti Suzuki(down 0.18 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty Auto index closed 0.4 per cent up at 12929.15.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 36.45 points at 17558.9, while the BSE Sensex stood up 59.15 points at 58833.87.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 35 ended in the green, while 15 closed in the red.

Shares of Reliance Power, RBL Bank, Vodafone Idea, Zomato Ltd. and Suzlon Energy were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Syrma SGS Technology Ltd., Vinyl Chemicals, Anik Industries, Mazagon Dock Ship and Reliance Infra hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Jalan Transolutions, GVK Power Infra, Sportking India, Vipul Ltd and Future Enterprises hit their fresh 52-week lows.
