Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index falls 0.74%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index closed on a negative note on Thursday.

Shares of Lupin(up 3.62 per cent), Torrent Pharmaceuticals(up 0.78 per cent), Dr Reddys Laboratories(up 0.32 per cent), Abbott India(up 0.09 per cent) and Laurus(up 0.01 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Aurobindo Pharma(down 11.75 per cent), Gland Pharma(down 4.38 per cent), Natco Pharma(down 4.19 per cent), Zydus Lifesciences(down 3.26 per cent) and Granules India(down 1.84 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty Pharma index closed 0.74 per cent down at 12983.1.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 128.8 points at 18028.2, while the BSE Sensex stood down 419.85 points at 60613.7.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 11 ended in the green, while 39 closed in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, PNB, Union Bank India, YES Bank and FSN E-Comm(Nykaa)were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Linc Pen Plast, BSL Ltd, Refex Industries, Kriti Nutrients and Ion Exchange hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Team Lease Service, Aurobindo Pharma, Quess Corp, Jayant Agro Org and Everest Kanto hit their fresh 52-week lows.
