Stock market update: Nifty Auto index falls 0.3% in an upbeat market

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto index traded negative around 10:29AM(IST)on Thursday in an upbeat market.

MRF(up 0.65 per cent), Ashok Leyland(up 0.64 per cent), TVS Motor Company(up 0.63 per cent), Hero MotoCorp(up 0.59 per cent) and Sona BLW Precision Forgings(up 0.35 per cent) were among the top gainers.

Bajaj Auto(down 1.82 per cent), Samvardhana Motherson International(down 1.27 per cent), Bharat Forge(down 0.94 per cent), Mahindra & Mahindra(down 0.65 per cent) and Eicher Motors(down 0.53 per cent) were the top losers on the index.

The Nifty Auto index was down 0.3 per cent at 13191.85 at the time of writing this report.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 60.95 points at 18819.3, while the BSE Sensex was up 278.82 points at 63378.47.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 28 were trading in the green, while 21 were in the red.

Shares of Indian Railway Finance Corporation Ltd., JP Power, Suzlon Energy, Rail Vikas Nigam and TV18 Broadcast were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of HPL Electric Power, HLV Ltd., Salasar Techno Engg, Axita Cotton and Focus Lighting hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Lloyds Luxuries Ltd., Proseed India, Dhanuka Realty, FutureLifestyleFash and Jaypee Infra hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
