Stock market update: Nifty IT index advances 0.33% in a weak market

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index traded positive around 10:45AM(IST)on Tuesday in a weak market.

Tech Mahindra(up 1.81 per cent), Larsen & Toubro Infotech(up 0.98 per cent), Mindtree(up 0.79 per cent), Infosys(up 0.43 per cent) and Coforge(up 0.01 per cent) were among the top gainers.

HCL Technologies(down 0.44 per cent), L&T Technology(down 0.4 per cent), Wipro(down 0.18 per cent), Tata Consultancy(down 0.13 per cent) and MPhasis(down 0.11 per cent) were the top losers on the index.

The Nifty IT index was up 0.33 per cent at 28627.85 at the time of writing this report.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 29.8 points at 17700.95, while the BSE Sensex was down 102.58 points at 59729.08.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 19 were trading in the green, while 31 were in the red.

Shares of BHEL, PNB, Vodafone Idea, IDFC First Bank and Zomato Ltd. were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Varanium Cloud Ltd., Sonu Infratech Ltd., D-Link(India), DC Infotech and Tips Films Ltd. hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Kandarp Digi Smart BPO Ltd., Phantom Digital Effects Ltd., Bodhi Tree Multimed, OrissaBengalCarrier and GTL Ltd hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
