    Shares of Tata Metaliks rallied 7 per cent in Friday's session to the day’s high of Rs 872.95 after the iron and steel company announced the inauguration of Phase-I of its expansion project of the Ductile Iron (DI) pipe plant at Kharagpur.

    The Rs 600 crore expansion project will take the company’s Ductile Iron Pipe plant capacity to over 4 lakh tonnes per annum in two phases.

    The Tata Group company in a release said this new facility is among the state-of-the-art DI Pipe plants with high levels of automation and robotics to make the operations safe and efficient.


    "This new plant will help the company expand its product range and enhance its presence in the fast-growing water infrastructure space that is witnessing a major thrust by the government through its Jal Jeevan Mission scheme," it said.

    At 11:02 am, the scrip traded higher by over 5 per cent at Rs 855.4 per share on NSE.

    Further, the company said it is also involved in several community welfare functions, primarily in the Kharagpur area.

    Tata Metaliks is a smallcap company and a subsidiary of Tata Steel.
