Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index advances 0.55% in an upbeat market

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index traded positive around 10:29AM(IST)on Wednesday in an upbeat market.

Biocon(up 2.59 per cent), Gland Pharma(up 1.46 per cent), Lupin(up 1.2 per cent), Laurus(up 1.14 per cent) and Zydus Lifesciences(up 1.13 per cent) were among the top gainers.

Abbott India(down 0.5 per cent), Sanofi India(down 0.29 per cent), Alkem Laboratories(down 0.1 per cent) and Torrent Pharmaceuticals(down 0.01 per cent) were the top losers on the index.

The Nifty Pharma index was up 0.55 per cent at 12867.8 at the time of writing this report.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 60.55 points at 18668.55, while the BSE Sensex was up 198.08 points at 62731.38.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 40 were trading in the green, while 10 were in the red.

Shares of YES Bank, UCO Bank, Bank of Maharashtra, IOB and Central Bank were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Palash Securities, B&B Triplewall Conta, GIC Housing Fin, Dynamic Cables and Sirca Paints hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Cerebra Integrat, Sintex Inds., Pritika Engineering Components Ltd., JFL Life Sciences Ltd. and Vodafone Idea hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
