Mumbai Police bans movement of people in containment zones except for essential activities
This order is valid for the entire day in areas designated as containment zones and in the entire city between 9 pm and 5 am, with certain pre-defined exemptions.

Mumbai: Amid an alarming spike in Covid-19 cases in Maharashtra, especially in the financial capital of the country, Mumbai Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations) Pranaya Ashok has issued a prohibitory order under Section 144 to contain the spread of the coronavirus.
The order dated June 30, 2020 prohibits any presence or movement of one or more persons in public places or gathering of any sort anywhere, including religious places subject to certain conditions. This order is valid for the entire day in areas designated as containment zones and in the entire city between 9 pm and 5 am, with certain pre-defined exemptions.
“There is a likelihood of spread of the Covid-19 virus through gathering of persons in public or private places and there is grave danger to human life, health or safety. There are sufficient reasons for passing prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) to ensure that there is no danger to human life,” the order said.
The communique further states that movement of one or more persons areas designated as ‘Containment Zones’ by the municipal authorities is prohibited, except for essential activities, supply of essential goods and medical emergencies.
Furthermore, all movement of one of more persons in the city is prohibited between 9 pm and 5 am, barring medical emergencies and other emergency services.
