Stock market update: Power stocks down as market rises

NEW DELHI: Power shares closed higher in the Tuesday's session.

PIGL(up 4.98%), Jyoti Structures(up 4.64%), Inox wind(up 2.63%), Adani Transmissions(up 2.45%), Suzlon Energy-Partly Pd up Right Is(up 2.33%), Karma Energy(up 1.62%), Hitachi Energy India(up 1.48%), GE Power India Limited(up 1.28%), ADANIGREEN(up 1.07%) and Energy Development Company(up 0.77%) stood among the top gainers.

NHPC(down 2.40%), Inox Wind Energy(down 2.31%), Voltamp Transformers(down 2.26%), Alstom T&D India(down 2.16%), Torrent Power(down 1.87%), Transformers and Rectifiers(India)(down 1.77%), SJVN(down 1.63%), Jaiprakash Power Ventures(down 1.32%), PTC India(down 1.19%) and Kalpataru Power Transmission(down 1.11%) were among the top losers of the day.

The NSE Nifty50 index ended 55.3 points up at 18618.05, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed up 177.04 points at 62681.84.

Hindustan Unilever(up 4.32%), JSW Steel(up 2.36%), Cipla(up 1.76%), Britannia Industries(up 1.72%), Hero MotoCorp(up 1.61%), Nestle India(up 1.54%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries(up 1.46%), Dr Reddys Laboratories(up 1.17%), Tata Steel(up 1.14%) and Hindalco Industries(up 1.11%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, IndusInd Bank(down 1.44%), Bajaj Finserv(down 1.26%), Coal India(down 1.15%), Power Grid Corporation of India(down 0.88%), Maruti Suzuki(down 0.84%), Eicher Motors(down 0.74%), Larsen & Toubro(down 0.67%), Bajaj Finance(down 0.64%), UPL Ltd(down 0.62%) and Asian Paints(down 0.51%) closed in the red.
