Stock market update: Nifty IT index falls 1.01% in a weak market

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index traded negative around 11:21AM(IST)on Thursday in a weak market.

L&T Technology(up 1.69 per cent) were among the top gainers.

Wipro(down 1.63 per cent), Infosys(down 1.31 per cent), Larsen & Toubro Infotech(down 1.09 per cent), Mindtree(down 1.07 per cent) and MPhasis(down 1.07 per cent) were the top losers on the index.

The Nifty IT index was down 1.01 per cent at 29950.15 at the time of writing this report.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 59.05 points at 17885.2, while the BSE Sensex was down 199.31 points at 60060.82.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 16 were trading in the green, while 34 were in the red.

Shares of Zomato Ltd., YES Bank, Vodafone Idea, Sona BLW Precision Forgings Ltd. and Suzlon Energy were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Ruby Mills, TCPL Packaging, Ritco Logistics, Orbit Exports and Vesuvius India hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while GVK Power Infra, Future Enterprises, Vipul Ltd, Kaveri Seed Co. and Milton Industries hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
