Stock market update: Power stocks down as market falls

NEW DELHI: Power stocks were trading lower on Thursday at 10:09AM

KPI Green Energy(up 1.68%), NHPC(up 1.63%), KEC International(up 0.80%), CESC(up 0.45%) and Torrent Power(up 0.15%) were among the top gainers.

Adani Transmissions(down 5.09%), Energy Development Company(down 4.76%), Jaiprakash Power Ventures(down 4.62%), Orient Green Power Company(down 4.48%), Karma Energy(down 4.19%), ADANIGREEN(down 4.16%), Indowind Energy(down 4.00%), Voltamp Transformers(down 3.62%), RTNPOWER(down 3.30%) and Adani Power(down 3.25%) were among the top losers.

The NSE Nifty50 index was trading 272.3 points down at 15894.8, while the 30-share BSE Sensex was down 852.57 points at 53235.82 at around 10:09AM.

Tata Consultancy(up 0.37%) and HCL Technologies(up 0.02%) were among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Hindalco Industries(down 4.15%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone(down 3.71%), IndusInd Bank(down 3.62%), UltraTech Cement(down 3.62%), SBI Life(down 3.59%), Hero MotoCorp(down 3.49%), Tata Motors(down 3.43%), Mahindra & Mahindra(down 3.2%), Bajaj Finance(down 3.06%) and Tata Steel(down 3.04%) were trading in the red.
