Benchmark NSE Nifty index fell 54.3 points to 17523.2 amid selling in frontline bluechip stocks.
However, stocks such as Veekayem Fashion & Apparels Ltd., GVK Power Infra, Karda Const and IMP Powers Ltd, touched their fresh 52-week low.
Overall, 12 shares traded in the green in Nifty50 index, while 37 traded in the red.
In the Nifty 50 index, ONGC, IndusInd Bank, Apollo Hospital, NTPC and Coal India Ltd were among top gainers, while Divis Labs, Asian Paints, Nestle India, Titan Company and Adani Ports SEZ traded in the red.
The BSE Sensex was trading 171.11 points down at 58860.19 at 09:59AM(IST).
Traders were seen piling up positions in Telecommunications, Rubber, Miscellaneous, Paper and Learning & Education sectors, while selling was visible in Metals - Ferrous, Term Lending Institutions, Gas & Petroleum, Auto Ancillaries and Pharmaceuticals sectors.
