Stock market update: Nifty IT index rises 3%; HCL Tech leaps 5%

NEW DELHI: Nifty IT index was trading higher at 01:19PM (IST) on Friday.

Shares of Coforge (up 6.79 per cent) , HCL Technologies (up 4.95 per cent) , Tata Consultancy (up 3.29 per cent) , Infosys (up 2.61 per cent) and Tech Mahindra (up 2.31 per cent) were among the top gainers.

The Nifty IT index was trading 2.84 per cent up at 19512.3 around 01:19PM.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 160.50 points at 10966.05, while the BSE Sensex was up 551.92 points at 37105.52.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 44 were trading in the green, while 6 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, Ashok Leyland, Ibull HousingFin, Tata Motors and YES Bank were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Coforge Ltd., Ruchi Soya Inds, Granules India, Suven Pharma and Apollo Hospital hit their fresh 52-week high in today's trade, while Mittal Life Style Ltd., Future Lifestyle Fashions Ltd., Vikas Proppant & Granite Ltd., Banka Bioloo Ltd., Delta Manufacturing Ltd., Sumit Woods Ltd., Kuantum Papers Ltd., Coal India Ltd., Motor & General Finance Ltd. and Twentyfirst Century Management Services Ltd. hit fresh 52-week low in trade.
