Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index advances 0.09% in a weak market

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index traded positive around 10:29AM(IST)on Tuesday in a weak market.

Cipla(up 1.36 per cent), Torrent Pharmaceuticals(up 0.68 per cent), Alkem Laboratories(up 0.4 per cent), Abbott India(up 0.38 per cent) and Pfizer(up 0.34 per cent) were among the top gainers.

Granules India(down 1.0 per cent), Biocon(down 0.89 per cent), Aurobindo Pharma(down 0.66 per cent), Alembic Pharmaceuticals(down 0.63 per cent) and Zydus Lifesciences(down 0.48 per cent) were the top losers on the index.

The Nifty Pharma index was up 0.09 per cent at 12576.9 at the time of writing this report.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 75.5 points at 17590.3, while the BSE Sensex was down 260.08 points at 58985.9.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 11 were trading in the green, while 39 were in the red.

Shares of Suzlon Energy, Reliance Power, JP Power, Vodafone Idea and YES Bank were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Dreamfolks Services Ltd., Rossell India, Dangee Dums, Aster DM Health and Apollo Tyres hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while FutureLifestyleFash, Debock Sales & Mktg, Future Retail, Biocon and Kaveri Seed Co. hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
