Stock market update: Sugar stocks down as market rises

NEW DELHI: Sugar stocks were trading lower on Tuesday at 09:59AM

DCM Shriram Industries(up 0.68%), BAJAJHIND(up 0.63%), MAGADHSUGAR(up 0.50%), Balrampur Chini Mills(up 0.39%), KCP Sugar & Industries(up 0.34%), Vishwaraj Sugar Industries(up 0.29%), AVADHSUGAR(up 0.12%) and Dhampur Sugar Mills(up 0.09%) were among the top gainers.

Ponni Sugars(Erode)(down 3.03%), Simbhaoli Sugars(down 1.37%), Ugar Sugar Works(down 1.25%), Uttam Sugar Mills(down 1.11%), Triveni Engineering & Industries(down 0.92%), Sakthi Sugars(down 0.83%), Shree Renuka Sugars(down 0.64%), EID Parry(down 0.63%), Mawana Sugars(down 0.58%) and Rajshree Sugars & Chemicals(down 0.55%) were among the top losers.

The NSE Nifty50 index was trading 106.3 points up at 18001.15, while the 30-share BSE Sensex was up 397.38 points at 60490.35 at around 09:59AM.

Hindustan Unilever(up 2.56%), Larsen & Toubro(up 1.37%), HCL Technologies(up 1.27%), NTPC(up 1.21%), UltraTech Cement(up 1.08%), Tata Motors(up 1.02%), HDFC Bank(up 0.99%), ITC(up 0.92%), HDFC(up 0.92%) and Reliance Industries(up 0.85%) were among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries(down 0.62%), Bharat Petroleum Corporation(down 0.57%), Adani Enterprises(down 0.57%), Bajaj Finance(down 0.56%), Hero MotoCorp(down 0.54%), Tata Steel(down 0.5%), Divis Laboratories(down 0.28%), IndusInd Bank(down 0.18%), Mahindra & Mahindra(down 0.14%) and Cipla(down 0.03%) were trading in the red.
