Stock market update: Nifty IT index falls 0.47%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index closed on a negative note on Wednesday.

Shares of MPhasis(up 2.66 per cent), L&T Technology(up 2.62 per cent) and Coforge(up 0.25 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Tech Mahindra(down 2.18 per cent), Larsen & Toubro Infotech(down 1.58 per cent), Mindtree(down 1.46 per cent), Wipro(down 1.11 per cent) and HCL Technologies(down 0.85 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty IT index closed 0.47 per cent down at 30077.7.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 19.0 points at 16240.3, while the BSE Sensex stood down 109.94 points at 54208.53.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 26 ended in the green, while 24 closed in the red.

Shares of YES Bank, Vodafone Idea, Zomato Ltd., Indian Oil Corp. and Suzlon Energy were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of BLS Int. Services, GE Shipping, MRPL, Vadilal Ind and Gokaldas Export hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Route Mobile, Muthoot Capital, Metropolis Health, Dr Lal Pathlabs and Amber Enterprises hit their fresh 52-week lows.
