Stock market update: BSE Telecom index up nearly 2%; Vodafone Idea leaps 7%

NEW DELHI: S&P BSE Telecom index was trading with gains at 01:24PM (IST) on Wednesday.

Shares of Vodafone Idea (up 7.2 per cent), Bharti Infratel Ltd (up 4.56 per cent), OnMobile Global (up 4.1 per cent), Bharti Airtel (up 1.05 per cent) and Tata Communications (up 0.49 per cent) were among the top gainers.

While Optiemus Infracom (down 4.96 per cent), Reliance Communications (down 3.59 per cent), Tejas Network (down 3.17 per cent), GTL Infrastructure (down 2.63 per cent) and Sterlite Technologies (down 1.06 per cent) were the top losers in the index.

The S&P BSE Telecom index was trading 1.54 per cent up at 1293.69 around 01:24PM.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 1.40 points at 11471.65, while the BSE Sensex was down 23.08 points at 38877.72.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 28 were trading in the green, while 22 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, Alok Industries, RIL and Infosys were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Adani Green Energy Ltd., IndiaMART InterMESH Ltd., Godrej Ind and Infibeam Avenues Ltd. hit their fresh 52 week high in today's trade, while Panth Infinity Ltd., Innovative Ideals and Services (India) Ltd., Majestic Research Services & Solutions Ltd., Anupam Finserv Ltd., Saffron Industries Ltd., Leading Leasing Finance and Investment Company Ltd., Benara Bearings & Pistons Ltd., B P Capital Ltd., Modulex Construction Technologies Ltd. and Katare Spinning Mills Ltd. hit fresh 52 week low in trade.
