Stock market update: Nifty Auto index falls 1.19% in a weak market

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto index traded negative around 10:44AM(IST)on Thursday in a weak market.

Eicher Motors(up 0.58 per cent) and Escorts(up 0.03 per cent) were among the top gainers.

Tata Motors(down 2.6 per cent), TIINDIA(down 1.93 per cent), Ashok Leyland(down 1.69 per cent), Bharat Forge(down 1.56 per cent) and Bosch(down 1.54 per cent) were the top losers on the index.

The Nifty Auto index was down 1.19 per cent at 10880.0 at the time of writing this report.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 85.6 points at 15940.2, while the BSE Sensex was down 200.17 points at 53549.09.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 13 were trading in the green, while 37 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, Suzlon Energy, Zomato Ltd., SAIL and JP Power were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Medico Remedies, Shubhlaxmi Jewel Art, Impex Ferro Tech, Shanti Overseas(Ind and Standard Ind hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Sequent Scientific, Associated Alch, MT Educare, Richa Info Systems Ltd. and Gayatri Project hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
