Stock market update: BSE SmallCap index jumps nearly 2%; Universal Cables zooms 20%

NEW DELHI: S&P BSE SmallCap index was trading with gains at 12:09PM (IST) on Monday.

Shares of Universal Cables (up 20.0 per cent), Anant Raj (up 19.97 per cent), Agro Tech Foods (up 18.98 per cent), Panama Petrochem (up 16.92 per cent) and Nava Bharat Ventures (up 16.64 per cent) were among the top gainers.

While Bhansali Engineering Polymers (down 5.05 per cent), MIRC Electronics (down 4.97 per cent), Everest Kanto Cylinder (down 4.89 per cent), Indiabulls Real Estate (down 4.89 per cent) and Jaiprakash Associates (down 4.88 per cent) were the top losers in the index.

The S&P BSE SmallCap index was trading 1.62 per cent up at 14862.64 around 12:09PM.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 70.15 points at 11441.75, while the BSE Sensex was up 239.62 points at 38674.34.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 27 were trading in the green, while 22 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, NTPC, BHEL and Zee Ent. were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Affle (India) Ltd., BASF India, Aarti Drugs, Eicher Motors and Laurus Labs Ltd. hit their fresh 52 week high in today's trade, while Panth Infinity Ltd., Shree Nidhi Trading Co. Ltd., Starcom Information Technology Ltd., STI India Ltd., Leading Leasing Finance and Investment Company Ltd., Libord Finance Ltd., Kretto Syscon Ltd., Shri Niwas Leasing and Finance Ltd., NEO Infracon Ltd. and Netripples Software Ltd. hit fresh 52 week low in trade.
