Stock market update: Nifty PSU Bank index rises 2%; Bank of India climbs 3%

NEW DELHI: Nifty PSU Bank index was trading on a positive note at 12:42PM (IST) on Thursday.

Shares of Bank of India (up 3.31 per cent), Punjab National Bank (up 2.54 per cent), State Bank of India (up 2.53 per cent), Indian Bank (up 1.61 per cent) and J & K Bank (up 1.38 per cent) were among the top gainers.

While Bank of Maharashtra (down 3.14 per cent), Punjab & Sind Bank (down 0.38 per cent) and UCO Bank (down 0.36 per cent) were the top losers in the index.

The Nifty PSU Bank index was trading 1.75 per cent up at 1537.5 around 12:42PM.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 46.65 points at 11596.25, while the BSE Sensex was up 180.78 points at 39254.7.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 25 were trading in the green, while 23 were in the red.

Shares of Tata Motors, Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, DLF and SBI were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Tata Elxsi, Central Depository Services (India) Ltd., Strides Shasun , Atul Ltd and Dixon Technologies (India) Ltd. hit their fresh 52 week high in today's trade.
