    Biggest gainers and losers: Deepak Spinners surges 20%, Dhunseri Tea drops 10%

    NEW DELHI: Domestic equity benchmarks ended the week on a higher note tracking cues from global markets after the US announced a $1 trillion infrastructure deal to help stimulate the world's largest economy. Banking and metal stocks lifted the market.

    BSE Sensex gained 226 points or 0.43 per cent to end at 52,925.04, whereas NSE's barometer Nifty50 ended at 15,860.35, up 69.90 points or 0.44 per cent for the day. The BSE Midcap index jumped one per cent, whereas the smallcap gauge ended 0.40 per cent higher.

    Among the buzzing stocks, Deepak Spinner soared 20 per cent after renowned investor Dolly Khanna bought a stake in the company. Vodafone Idea posted double digit gains. Dhunseri Tea and TAKE Solutions tanked 8-10 per cent after a poor show in the March quarter earnings.

    Let's have a look at the biggest movers and shakers of Friday's session:

    GAINERS
    Deepak Spinners: Dolly Khanna bought 76,555 shares of Deepak Spinners, or a stake of about 1.06 per cent, at Rs. 167.2 apiece through a bulk deal on BSE. The deal was worth Rs 1.28 crore at the price. The counter soared 20 per cent to Rs 201.90 on the bourse.

    Shoppers Stop: The retail chain announced a big beauty products sale on social media, which is likely to boost its revenue in tough times. Following this, the counter surged 16 per cent to Rs 261.45 on Friday.

    Allcargo Logistics: Shares of the logistics firm gained 12 per cent to Rs 160.60. Net Sales of the company surged 79 per cent to Rs 3,349.31 crore in the quarter ended March 2021 from Rs. 1,870.96 crore in the corresponding period a year ago. The company is likely to reap benefits from the turnaround of Gati as well, in which it holds a stake of over 23 per cent.

    Vodafone Idea: Shares of telecom operator jumped 11 per cent to Rs 10.59 on Friday. The company has restrutured some of its plans, following Airtel and Jio. The company will partner Cisco for 4G and 5G network, offering a better quality expe­rience for its customers.

    Apollo Hospitals: Shares of the private healthcare facility company rallied as much as 7 per cent to Rs 3,438.70 on Friday ahead of the listing of its peer Krishna Institute of Medical Science (KIMS). The grey market is signaling a strong listing for KIMS. The company reported a consolidated net profit of Rs 169.89 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2021.

    Godfrey Phillips: The counter soared 5.66 per cent to Rs 1,025.75 on the back of strong March quarter results. Net profits of the cigarette maker almost doubled to Rs 95.43 crore in the fourth quarter of FY21 from Rs 48.26 crore in the year-ago period.

    LOSERS
    Orchid Pharma: The counter hit the lower circuit of 10 per cent to settle at Rs 1,069.10 as promoters were selling the shares at a steep discount via offer-for-sale (OFS). The floor price for the share sale was set at Rs 375.

    Dhunseri Tea: The stock fell 10 per cent to Rs 457.20 after the tea firm reported a net loss of Rs 26.96 crore for the March quarter despite a 30 per cent rise in revenues. The company had posted a net profit of Rs 33.16 crore for the previous three-month period.

    TAKE Solutions: The pharmaceuticals company reported a net loss of Rs 68.13 crore for the March quarter on the back of lower revenue. However, the loss has narrowed as much as 60 per cent. TAKE Solutions tanked 8 per cent to Rs 64.55 on Friday.

    Nath Bio-Genes (India): The agricultural products company tanked 5 per cent to Rs 397.90 on Friday. Net profit of Nath Bio-Genes (India) declined 6.42 per cent to Rs 7.14 crore in the March quarer and revenue plunged 8.53 per cent to Rs 55.02 crore.

    Adani Total Gas, Adani Transmission: Adani Group stocks have been on a free fall for two weeks. Adani Total Gas and Adani Transmission shed 5 per cent each to Rs 1,189.30 and Rs 1,194.15 on Friday, respectively.
