Punjab CM expresses anguish over no guard of honour for Agniveer Amritpal Singh
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann expressed his disappointment with the Army for not providing a guard of honour during the last rites of Agniveer Amritpal Singh, who died in Jammu and Kashmir. The Army stated that since Singh's cause of death was a self-inflicted gunshot injury, no military funeral was provided. Mann said his government would raise the issue with the Centre and provide Singh's family with a compensation of Rs 1 crore. He also criticized the Army for sending Singh's body in a private ambulance and questioned why a guard of honour was not given.
