In 2008, RCOM launched its GSM service. To enhance the quality of its 3G Service, it began using MIMO technology in 2011, offering a data rate of up to 28 Mbit/s.

The organisation also owns companies through its subsidiaries, a global submarine cable network infrastructure and it offers managed Ethernet, managed services and application delivery services. Their mobile portal, R World, provides the broadest range of mobile content spanning e-commerce, m-commerce entertainment, cricket, Bollywood, maps, search, one-click set-up, music, news, astrology, access to email and social networking. RCOM offers the most extensive portfolio of enterprise-level voice, video, data, internet and IT infrastructure services catering to all level enterprises for their communications, networking and IT infrastructure needs.
On April 1, 2008, the RCOM demerged and transferred the Optic Fiber Undertaking to Reliance Infratel Ltd. Also, the Reliance Gateway Net Ltd, subsidiary of the company joined with the company with effect from July 13, 2009. During the year, the RCOM won the prestigious Global World Communication Awards 09, held in London.
The company launched Disruptive Hi-Speed Unlimited Data Plans and also unveiled TalkLoan facility to ensure uninterrupted calling, surfing for its customers. Reliance Jio Infocomm and Reliance Communications signed a Master Services Agreement for sharing, RComs city Fiber Infrastructure. RCom expanded its 3G services to 18 circles in 2015, Reliance Communications Realigns Business Units Expands Role of Global Cloud Xchange. RCOM launched Next-generation content and cloud delivery network in Five Cities Across India.
