Royal Stag-maker Pernod Ricard faces CCI probe for boosting market share
India's Competition Commission is investigating Pernod Ricard for colluding with retailers in the southern state of Telangana to harm competitors, according to regulatory documents. The investigation follows a case filed by Pernod's Indian rival, Radico Khaitan, which alleges that Pernod violated antitrust laws by offering retailers additional discounts and benefits in exchange for not selling Radico's 8PM whisky brand. Pernod denies any wrongdoing and says it has not been notified of the investigation. Pernod has a 19% share of India's $31 billion spirits market, while Radico has a 6.6% share.
