ā¢ A special court handling CBI cases in the Punjab National Bank (PNB) scam has decided to separate the trial of two accused, Gokulnath Shetty and Hemant Bhatt, due to uncertainties regarding the duration of Nirav Modi's extradition process.
ā¢ The court noted that speedy trial is the right of an accused and allowed the applications filed by Shetty and Bhatt to separate their trial from that of the other accused.
ā¢ Nirav Modi, a prime accused in the scam, is currently facing extradition proceedings in the UK and was declared a fugitive economic offender in 2019.
