Precious metals fall, palladium sinks over 6%
Precious metals traded in the red on Tuesday following an underwhelming report on inflation in the United States, which showed it slowed down in August, but not as much as expected. Palladium recorded the biggest drop, losing over 6% and reversing yesterday's gains.
Gold lost 1.48% and went for $1,698.80 per ounce at 9:14 am ET. Silver plunged 1.57%, selling for $19.48 per ounce at the same time. Platinum decreased by 1.22%, going for $897.73 per ounce at 9:15 am ET, while palladium sank 6.12% to go for $2,132.67 per ounce.
