• The Indian Air Force has issued a tender to Hindustan Aeronautics Limited for the purchase of 12 Su-30MKI fighter jets, to be manufactured in India with a high percentage of indigenous content.

• The IAF is also working on a project to upgrade its fleet of Sukhoi-30 fighters with indigenous weapon systems and advanced technology.

• The BrahMos supersonic missile has greatly enhanced the firepower of the IAF and smaller versions are being developed for other combat aircraft.
