Gujarat State Fertilizers & Chemicals Limited is involved in manufacturing, marketing and selling fertilizers and industrial products in India. The company is offering several industrial products among which anhydrous ammonia, caprolactam, melamine, anone-anol mixture, methyl ethyl ketoxime, GUJCON CRF and PRF polyamide-6 fibers, nylon-6 chips, sulphuric acid, cyclohexanone, cyclohexane, acetone cyanohydrin, methyl methacrylate, nylon-6 filament yarns, polymethyl methacrylate, melamine, caprolactam, hydroxylamine sulphate etc.
Besides that, the company is engaged in manufacturing agricultural products, especially fertilizers, which include water-soluble fertilizers, ammonium sulphate, diammonium phosphate, micro mixes, NPK and urea. Pesticides such as zinc sulphate, single super phosphate, magnesium sulphate, muriate of potash are traded by the company. Gujarat State Fertilizers & Chemicals Limited was incepted in 1962 and is headquartered at Vadodara, India.
About Company Information:
Soon after its incorporation in 1962, the company started to manufacture urea, ammonia, phosphoric acid, sulphuric acid, and ammonium sulphate and diammonium phosphate from 1967. In the year of 1972, the company set up its first Research & Development department. The caprolactam manufacturing plant was established in March 1974. A debottlenecking programme was completed and put into operation in 1979, for increasing the phosphoric acid production.
In December 1981, the company inaugurated a sulphuric acid plant with a manufacturing capacity of 1, 32,000 tons per annum. A melamine and fluorine recovery plant with the capacity of 5,000 tons per annum was commissioned in November 1982. In the next year, an amalgamation took place between Polymers Corporation of Gujarat limited and the company in 1983.
In 1985, the company achieved the industrial license for manufacturing methacrylic acid. In 1987, the government approval was received by the company to set up a multipurpose fertilizer pilot plant in collaboration with the International Fertilizer Development Centre. In the next year, the Research & Development department of the company was in a process to design and develop a fertilizer multipurpose pilot plant to manufacture both solid and liquid fertilizers, in 1988.
In 1989, permission was given to the company to import an amount of 1500 tons of melamine in each year. The company decided to increase its manufacturing capacity of melamine from 5000 tons per annum to 15,000 tons per annum. In 1990 the company decided to set up an ammonia plant with a capacity of 1,350 MTPD; the contract of the project was given to Linde AG West Germany.
The company took over the ownership of Sikka Jetty from Gujarat Maritime Board in 1991. In 1995, the company, along with immense modifications in gas turbines, also set up equipment facilities to use the liquid fuels such as Naphtha/HSD or the mixture of Naphtha and Natural gas to deal with the problems regarding the continuous supply of the required amount of natural gas every day.
Two separate contracts with M/s. ENCO/Polyservice was signed by the company based on technical support and the supply of proprietary items in the year of 1996. In the next year, the company inaugurated all the DCS systems, Air separation units, TG set, Electrical substation, Air & Nitrogen compressors in 1997.
In 1999, a memorandum of understanding had been signed between Gujarat State Fertilizers and Chemicals and a US-based company Planetary Design Corporation for developing a coastal agro-industrial project in Gujarat. After 2000, the company got a relief from the Union Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, which increased its capital expenditure in the ammonia plant of capacity 1350 MTPD.
An agreement had been accepted by the firm for supplying fertilizers to Morocco and South Africa for a timespan of ten years in 2006. In the same year, the company had gone for a joint venture with a Tunisian firm. The company has recommended a dividend share of Rs.4.50 per Equity Share of Rs.10/- each in 2010. The company expanded its Nylon-6 Project in 2011.
A lot of agreements were executed by the company with the Canada-based M/s Karnalyte Resources Inc. in the year of 2013. SKOCH’s ‘SMART TECHNOLOGY’ was received by the company in 2015.
