The Industrial Systems unit is responsible for providing variable frequency drives, motors, shaft power monitors, AC generators, soft starters, AC and DC drives.

Formerly the company was known as Crompton Greaves Ltd, and later in February renamed itself to CS Power and Industrial Solutions Ltd. It is a Mumbai based company in India and was incorporated back in 1937.
In the year 1966, Greaves Cotton & Crompton Parkinson Limited merged with the company, which led to the change in the name of the company to Crompton Greaves Limited. In 1975 the company in association Hitachi Limited through a technical collaboration agreed to manufacture circuit breakers (moulded case).
CG Power and Industrial Solutions Ltd got Kerala Electric Lamp Works Ltd to become its subsidiary in 1981. For manufacturing hydro turbines (up to 20 MW) in Punjab, the company went ahead with collaboration with the Punjab State Industrial Development Corp. Limited. These turbines were to be manufactured under a new label, named Punjab Power Generation Machines Limited.
In 1987, the company approved to set-up two upgraded plants, one in Nasik for manufacturing signalling systems and electronic items and in Aurangabad for manufacturing vacuum interrupters. In 1990, the company agreed to open a unit in Bangalore that would be responsible for rural telecommunication, another unit in Aurangabad functioning as a vacuum fluid purifier plant and anther one in Malanpur (Madhya Pradesh) for a transformers unit.
In 1994, the company proposed a bid to DOT for approval of venturing into cellular services partnering with Millicons from Luxemburg.
In 1996, the company was operating in four different segments of business, Digital, Power System, Consumer Products and Industrial System. In 1999, the company signed an MoU to market and service telecommunication products in India belong to the Tadirans Coral Range of the Israeli company Tadiran Telecommunications Limited. In 2002, the company dissociated itself from the shareholdings they had in CG Newage Electrical Limited which amounted to 38% of total shareholdings. In May 2005, Belgium-based Pauwels Group was acquired by the company.
During 2006-07, CG Power and Industrial Solutions Ltd acquired a subsidiary company named Transverticum Kft (Hungary) and the parent company Ganz Transelektro Villamossagi Zrt (Hungary). In August 2009, 81, 60,000 equity shares amounting to 51% of the shares of Brook CG Ltd. were acquired by the company. BCGL was a joint venture between BTR, a European holding, and CG Power and Industrial Solution Ltd. On 29th April 2010, the company announced it would be acquiring three companies for an approximate amount of RS. 92 crore. The three businesses to be acquired were Industrial drives, traction electronics, and SCADA; all belonging to Nelco Limited.
By the FY end of 31st March 2014, for efficient manufacturing of smart grid devices, the company launched its well equipped smart grid facility in Bengaluru, at Global Village. In the FY 2014, Consumer Products unit of the company took relevant actions for its expansion, to implement lean manufacture processes, manufacture more premium products, knowledge-based smart products, and to cover end customer sales points. For the company's railway segment business, in 2018, it reached the highest input order amounting to Rs. 917 crore, which was an escalation of growth by 47% in comparison to the year before.
