Wall Street changes course, Dow jumps 200 pts
Stock exchanges in New York rebounded on Thursday in anticipation of the scheduled Federal Reserve officials' speeches, as investors hoped to draw more clues on the direction of their monetary policy going forward.
Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell, Governor Lisa Cook, and Bank of Richmond President Thomas Barkin are all set to deliver their remarks in the hours ahead. After the closing bell, Nike Inc. will post financial results for the opening quarter of its fiscal 2024.
The Dow Jones surged 223 points or 0.62% at 12:30 pm ET. The Nasdaq 100 jumped 1.32% and the S&P 500 added 0.91%. The euro gained 0.67% against the dollar, selling at 1.05741 a minute later.
