Stock market update: Power stocks up as market rises

NEW DELHI: Power shares closed higher in the Monday's session.

Adani Power(up 13.71%), Karma Energy(up 4.84%), Indowind Energy(up 4.76%), PTC India(up 4.74%), PIGL(up 3.78%), KPI Green Energy(up 3.29%), Energy Development Company(up 2.60%), Reliance Power(up 2.44%), SJVN(up 2.34%) and Inox Wind Energy(up 2.07%) stood among the top gainers.

Jyoti Structures(down 4.65%), ADANIGREEN(down 2.23%), KEC International(down 2.12%), Voltamp Transformers(down 2.11%), Adani Transmissions(down 1.54%) and GE Power India Limited(down 1.11%) were among the top losers of the day.

The NSE Nifty50 index ended 92.15 points up at 18197.45, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed up 327.05 points at 61167.79.

Tata Steel(up 5.86%), Hindalco Industries(up 2.89%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation(up 2.52%), Tata Motors(up 1.77%), ICICI Bank(up 1.3%), Reliance Industries(up 1.13%), Mahindra & Mahindra(up 1.09%), Infosys(up 1.05%), Bharat Petroleum Corporation(up 1.01%) and JSW Steel(up 0.94%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Asian Paints(down 1.32%), Titan Company Ltd(down 1.22%), Divis Laboratories(down 1.19%), Bajaj Auto(down 1.16%), Hero MotoCorp(down 0.84%), Tech Mahindra(down 0.68%), TATA CONSUMER PRODUCTS(down 0.61%), Apollo Hospitals Enterprises(down 0.52%), Cipla(down 0.46%) and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries(down 0.44%) closed in the red.
