Stock market update: Nifty IT index falls 0.4%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index closed on a negative note on Wednesday.

Shares of HCL Technologies(up 0.6 per cent) and Infosys(up 0.25 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Tech Mahindra(down 2.35 per cent), MPhasis(down 1.59 per cent), Coforge(down 0.88 per cent), Mindtree(down 0.61 per cent) and L&T Technology(down 0.58 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty IT index closed 0.4 per cent down at 28626.8.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 45.8 points at 18157.0, while the BSE Sensex stood down 151.6 points at 61033.55.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 15 ended in the green, while 35 closed in the red.

Shares of PNB, Vodafone Idea, Zomato Ltd., YES Bank and Union Bank India were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Khaitan(India), Refex Industries, Magnum Ventures, HLV Ltd. and Honda Siel Power hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Ginni Filaments, Ace Integrated Solut, Williamson Magor, Dhanuka Realty and Indigo Paints Ltd. hit their fresh 52-week lows.
